There are many international and
United States problems that people do and do not realize. These problems, such as war, international debt, and a low-budget economy affect every citizen in the world. These problems and the many more that are going on today make our world more chaotic each day and add to the crisis and recession our earth is experiencing today and will be in the future if we don not change our ways rapidly.

One problem that is very significant and probably the most impacting problem in our world is global warming. Global Warming is very true today and it impacts our environment and us because of our actions. We may not realize this, but us letting smog into the air, cutting down our forests, and using up our gas supply and our natural resources affects the wildlife and affects the air we breathe. In a matter of years the polar ice caps will end up melting as a result of our careless attitudes and we will have to live underwater! Our world is helping this issue, but we are only taking small steps. To save our world from global warming and its terrible affects, we must all work together in the world and cooperate. This issue about global warming is true and will be a major problem in the future. We are responsible for stopping the destruction of our world that global warming does. It is our obligation to carry out the duty of saving our world, together.

My parents have always supported me throughout my entire life journey. They always “got my back” when I need help in whatever situation may arise. There are very few things that my parents have not given me that I believe to be necessary. One thing I need from my parents is more patience. I think my parents are always telling me to do things and expect me to comply right away. I think this is okay at times, but I’m not a superhero, I’m just a kid. I think that if they had patience with me at times, it would be easier for me and they wouldn’t get mad as frequently as they do now. Another thing I think I need from my parents is for them to realize I am not really perfect. I try hard to get good grades and when I do, they expect better grades from me. I think this is just a sign that they know I can do great things and they expect me to do this. I believe that I am intelligent, but I would be much more relaxed if my parents weren’t always criticizing me for the bad things I do. I think I need my parents to give me a bit more slack, then I could get even better grades then I give them today.

My culture has many aspects to it that I have already educated myself on through doing a project in the 7th grade called the Cultural Fair. I learned about every aspect of the Mexican culture, but there were a couple that I though I needed to learn more about. One aspect of my culture that I want to learn about is about the Mexican Government. I want to learn about my culture’s economy, government style they use, and how they run things over there. I mainly want to be educated on government because would like to compare both the Mexican Government and how it differs from the American style of government we have today. I wonder about the Mexican governmental structure, if they have representatives, senators, or even a president. I have always been curious as to how
Mexico is running their economy because when I visit
Mexico I see many poor families that have to live by selling toys, candy, and jewelry to people walking on the sidewalks or streets. This is very sad to me, and I always wonder why this is happening in
Mexico.

Another aspect of my culture I want to learn more about is about Mexican food. I have seen many Mexican food dishes because my mom cooks Mexican food almost everyday for dinner and at family gathering there is at least some kind of Mexican food. I enjoy eating Mexican food very much, but sometimes I get sick of it and I tell my mom, “Mexican food again.” It’s alright though, I guess. What I really want to learn about my culture’s food is how to cook it. I would like to learn to make Mexican food dishes on my won so that I’ll never be hungry at my house again. Whenever I get hungry at my house, I can just make some of that great Mexican food and be happy.

If I had to choose three aspects of my cutklutre to include in a box, I would probably choose food, sports, and family. I would pick food becuase I come from a Mexican culture, and we enjoy all the Mexican traditional food. Food makes up a big part of Mexican culture, because Mexican food is shared at all my family’s parties and gatherings. Also sports are very important in the Mexican culture. The most popular sport is soccer, or fubol wich is a sport played by almots any person from the Mexican culture, no matter age or gender. Even people from many toher culktures enjoy the sport of futbol. Lastly, I chose family becuase my family is the biggest part in my life and in the my culture. Family is the most important aspect in the Mexican culture beacuse I see my family almost every weekend and I enjoy talking with my cousins and huge family of relatives. In the Mexican culture, family shapes me into who I am and that is why I think it is the most important and most essential aspect in the Mexican culture.

Success is an attribute that many people acquire within their life. Success does not come easy, it takes hard work and time to accomplish. Success, to me, is when somebody achieves their life goals whether it be getting their dream job, getting married, or becoming wealthy. Success is most importantly having the ability to accomplish anything your heart desires. Success is having good health, having a proseprous life, and having the intelligence to make right choices in life that that will please yourself, your family, and especially God. Success is not just having a welathy life, success is having a good character and having a personality that is unique. I think success is a privalege to acquire in life. Success is an advantage that will help people achiveve their goals and shape themsleves into smart, prosperous, and successful people of the world.

Under New York’s current Constitution, State Supreme Court Justices are elected in each of the State’s judicial districts. Since 1921, New York’s election law has required parties to select their nominees by a convention composed of delegates elected by party members. An individual running for delegate must submit a 500-signature petition collected within a specified time. The convention’s nominees appear automatically on the general-election ballot, along with any independent candidates who meet specific statutory requirements. Respondents filed suit, seeking, inter alia, a declaration that New York’s convention system violates the First Amendment rights of challengers running against candidates favored by party leaders and a ban mandating a direct primary election to select Supreme Court nominees. The Federal District Court issued an introductory injunction, pending the ratification of a new state statutory scheme, and the Second Circuit declared. Because a political party has a First Amendment right to limit its membership as it wishes, and to choose a candidate-selection process that will in its view produce the nominee who best represents its political platform, a State’s power to set down party use of primaries or conventions to select nominees for the general election is not without limits.

For 10 years, New York depended on political party primaries to nominate general election candidates for Supreme Court justice, but that process dejected qualified candidates and created improper, expensive, and potentially demeaning fundraising by judicial candidates.

So the legislature substituted an indirect party primary system, at which delegates are elected who, in turn, select general election candidates at political party conventions. The Second Circuit concluded that the delegate convention statutes enabled political parties to put into effect too much influence at the expense of the uprising party members or dissatisfied candidates and struck those statutes down as facially unconstitutional and brought back the discredited primary process. The issue in this case is whether the delegate-convention system is facially unconstitutional because it allows party leaders to defeat the ambitions of party members.

I choose to declare that the New York Board of Elections should be allowed to hold a direct primary for electing State Supreme Court nominees. I also allow them to run against people that are not a primary leader and not/favored by party leaders. I would allow this because it is not right to file a ban on direct primaries because these primaries will prove who the best candidate for Supreme Court Judge is. These conventions and primaries will let us find out which candidate will be best suited for the job and let use which person is favored more by party leaders. I think that it is fair for party leaders to support Supreme Court nominees because it will boost their popularity and it will be proof of how good a judge they really are and how popular they will be when they take office. I think party leaders should be allowed to act as they are as long as they do not act unconstitutionally.

I had a fun time working with my group these past few weeks. At first I thought that this project would be difficult and time consuming but after thinking it overall of us figured out ways to make it easier for the whole group. I had a great group that was a bit shy but once we started chatting more they were very open to us and to the group. We all had a fun time and got to get to know each other more as well. When the project began I had some uncertainties as to how the project would actually work and go. When we started to chat we figure out exactly how project would work and what it would have. This project proved my prediction wrong. I thought it would be hard and take up a lot of time but it was actually very easy and took a short amount of time once you took time to think about how it would be structured, you have to be organized.

Even though I had a good time doing this project there was still some things that went wrong in our project. There were also things that went good. Some things that went right were that everyone was responsible enough to post on the wiki so we could all know what was going on in the group. Also everyone got their pictures up on the voice thread and finished exactly what they said that they would do. Also we all followed directions and did our project according to our timeline. Some of the things that did not go well were that not all of us got to get our voice part in on time because we could not get a microphone not al the members of the group got to be available when we were chatting because of technical problems. We still managed but it would have been better if everyone were there.

During my time working with the kids in
Canada I liked a lot of things and I also disliked a lot of things. Some of the things I liked were that everyone was always on task and got their work submitted in on time. Also I liked that everyone tried their hardest to finish their work on time and do a good job. There were also some things I disliked like not everyone could always make the chat sessions and not everyone could do the voice on the voice thread. Even though not everything in our collaboration went perfect I still had a fun time. I also learned a lot of things. I also liked how nobody ever tried to take over and boss everyone around all the time. Everyone worked hard together to finish our project ion time and make it good enough for everyone to enjoy. So, this collaboration was beneficial to me because it made me a better student.

Friendship- I thought that friendship was the right word to describe chapters 10 and 11. I thought this because the word friendship depicts both of these chapters. In chapters 10 and 11 Ponyboy is getting recovered from his sickness when he got kicked in the head, in the rumble. He gets kicked hard by one of the Socs and he sleeps for about 1 week and even more a day after the rumble. In these two chapters, Ponyboy develops and evolves to become closer to his community around him and also outside of his community. He even gets to become better friends with Randy and some other Socs. They learn to forgive Ponyboy and the greasers after the rumble and grow into a stronger friendship with them. Ponyboy gets to become closer friends with all the gang, Sodapop and especially Dally too. He even becomes better friends with Johnny and Dally after they already die. Ponyboy remembers all the good times they had together even though he is trying hard to forget them; they will always be a part of his life. This chapter is all about friendship and Poyboy learning to become closer to the people around him because of all his mistakes he had learned from.

Fear- I think that Chapters 9 and 10 are described mostly by the word fear. Why? I think this because in chapters 9 and 10 the gang of greasers and even the Socs are both fearful of the rumble they are going to have. Also Ponyboy and Dally are fearful about what will happen to Johnny because they and the greasers all know that he is not doing well and he might die. Once the day of the rumble comes everyone is all pumped up and excited but I knew that they were actually very fearful because they knew that something bad might happen and that people could get hurt badly. I thought that much fear was shown by Dally right before the fight because he was worried about Ponyboy getting hurt because he had still not recovered fully and was not in a good condition to fight. Fear is also shown a lot when Dally goes to the fight and takes Ponyboy to the hospital quickly to see Johnny. Dally was very fearful because he knew Johnny was about to die. He wanted Ponyboy to see Johnny one last time but was very frightened and fearful that Johnny would die right then and there. Also Ponyboy and the crew were full of fear when they went to help Dally at the park and found him dead already and were too late to save him. I thought that Ponyboy was also fearful when he was depressed about Johnny and Dally dying and was scared something bad was going to happen again. I think that these two chapters were all about the gang just being scared about Dally and Johnny dying and being scared that something else even worse would happen to them and their family of brothers.

Friendship-I think that the word friendship describes chapters seven and eight perfectly. In chapter seven the gang grows a bigger friendship with each other. The greasers spend more time with each other when they all go visit Johnny. They evolve into more of a family and evolve to create a great friendship. Many of the greasers including Johnny grow to become closer together. They are all like brothers. I especially noticed that Ponyboy and Johnny become very close and start to open up to each other. They start to tell each other more about themselves and they become very close friend. They sacrifice their lives even for each other and they become like family. They start to care for each other more and do favors for one another. In chapter 8 the greasers back up Johnny while he is sick and they make sure he’s safe. They even follow him and do favors for him like buys him things and when his mom wants to visit him Pony and Two-Bit don’t let her in. Friendship explains these chapters because they are all about the gang of greasers evolving in their friendship rapidly and becoming more of a family of brothers.
