What my culture teaches me
My culture has many aspects to it that I have already educated myself on through doing a project in the 7th grade called the Cultural Fair. I learned about every aspect of the Mexican culture, but there were a couple that I though I needed to learn more about. One aspect of my culture that I want to learn about is about the Mexican Government. I want to learn about my culture’s economy, government style they use, and how they run things over there. I mainly want to be educated on government because would like to compare both the Mexican Government and how it differs from the American style of government we have today. I wonder about the Mexican governmental structure, if they have representatives, senators, or even a president. I have always been curious as to how
Mexico is running their economy because when I visit
Mexico I see many poor families that have to live by selling toys, candy, and jewelry to people walking on the sidewalks or streets. This is very sad to me, and I always wonder why this is happening in
Mexico.
Another aspect of my culture I want to learn more about is about Mexican food. I have seen many Mexican food dishes because my mom cooks Mexican food almost everyday for dinner and at family gathering there is at least some kind of Mexican food. I enjoy eating Mexican food very much, but sometimes I get sick of it and I tell my mom, “Mexican food again.” It’s alright though, I guess. What I really want to learn about my culture’s food is how to cook it. I would like to learn to make Mexican food dishes on my won so that I’ll never be hungry at my house again. Whenever I get hungry at my house, I can just make some of that great Mexican food and be happy.
