Chapters 9 + 10, THE OUTSIDERS

Fear- I think that Chapters 9 and 10 are described mostly by the word fear. Why? I think this because in chapters 9 and 10 the gang of greasers and even the Socs are both fearful of the rumble they are going to have. Also Ponyboy and Dally are fearful about what will happen to Johnny because they and the greasers all know that he is not doing well and he might die. Once the day of the rumble comes everyone is all pumped up and excited but I knew that they were actually very fearful because they knew that something bad might happen and that people could get hurt badly. I thought that much fear was shown by Dally right before the fight because he was worried about Ponyboy getting hurt because he had still not recovered fully and was not in a good condition to fight. Fear is also shown a lot when Dally goes to the fight and takes Ponyboy to the hospital quickly to see Johnny. Dally was very fearful because he knew Johnny was about to die. He wanted Ponyboy to see Johnny one last time but was very frightened and fearful that Johnny would die right then and there. Also Ponyboy and the crew were full of fear when they went to help Dally at the park and found him dead already and were too late to save him. I thought that Ponyboy was also fearful when he was depressed about Johnny and Dally dying and was scared something bad was going to happen again. I think that these two chapters were all about the gang just being scared about Dally and Johnny dying and being scared that something else even worse would happen to them and their family of brothers.
